Call for Submissions

Standing Call for Submissions from Occupy Participants and Observers:

Here at The Political Notebook I’m really pleased to have hosted a number of submissions from Occupy movements across the US (and even across the pond). I’ve had photos, guest posts and videos and I plan to continue publishing these on a rolling basis for the indefinite future.

Please send me your photographs of rallies, an important experience story of yours, documents from demonstrations, videos (from raw footage to short documentary pieces) and I’ll consider them for publication. I have published nearly all of the pieces I’ve received. The requirements are:

  • the photography and creative work has to be your own.
  • the pieces have to be relevant to the Occupy movement.
  • the photos do not have to be professional in quality, but they also shouldn’t be blurry and random or just of piles of things, even if they are piles of things in Zuccotti Park.
  • they should be in normal, downloadable file types: jpg, gif, and png for photos; doc/docx or pdf for documents. Links to the work are also welcome.
  • guest post submissions will be judged less leniently. If you want to put up a story, you should genuinely have a story to tell. (Check out Hannah’s guest post to see a good guideline for what I might be interested in.) It should also be proofread and well-written.

That said, the submissions can come from anywhere and anyone. You can choose to be published anonymously, semi-anonymously, with a pseudonym or full credit with links to your sites. Whatever you choose.

Email me your submissions at torierosedeghett@gmail.com. You can also reach me with questions or suggestions on Twitter or by Tumblr’s messaging system.
